Green Chile Pie

Overview
This is a savory pie that is quite heavy, but equally as yummy.
Equipment
- skillet
- pie dish
- on oven large enough for the pie dish with >2" top clearance
Components
- 1lb ground meat
- seasoning mix for meat
- .5lb shredded cheese (mexican blend recommended)
- 2 pie crusts
- 1 can of green chiles
- butter
Compile
- open and drain the chiles
- place one pie crust in the pie dish
- line the bottom of the pie crust with green chiles
- preheat oven to 350 degrees F
Build
- brown the meat in the skillet
- add seasoning to meat
- place the cooked meat atop the green chile layer
- add the cheese on top of the meat
- invert the second pie crust and place it on top and seal it to the lower crust
- lightly butter the top
- bake for ~10 minutes until the crust browns
Deploy
Serve in slices. An average sized human may be able to comfortably consume up to 25% of the pie in a sitting.
Variants
- add chopped onion and/or peppers of various kinds to the meat
- use another can of green chiles to add another layer on top of the cheese
- seasoning mixes can vary from off-the-shelf to something more custom made
